Lady Liberty is not “the most interesting person in the world” she’s much more important. For 130 years she has welcomed the poor, the homeless, the war torn, the lost and the teeming masses yearning for freedom. She has welcomed them with open arms and kindness, encouraging them to build a new life of opportunity and freedom.
She has welcomed them with the truth and belief that “all people are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Recently some have tried to muffle her voice and dim her light but she is determined to uphold the principles for which she stands. Today she needs our help to stand tall. It’s up to us as Americans to support her. We can do so with our voice and by spreading her light through acts of kindness and care.
